Why choose a Homebirth? Some women find that having their baby in the comfort of their own home provides a very supportive environment and consequently they have an easier birth.
Other women choose a homebirth, as they believe in their body’s ability to give birth and wish to decrease the chance of intervention in their labour.
A number of different research studies have looked into the safety of homebirth and all found that for women with a low-risk pregnancy, homebirth is a safe option. |

About Homebirth Access Sydney Homebirth Access Sydney (HAS) is a non-profit organisation and the only group of its kind in Sydney which promotes and supports homebirth as an accessible and attainable birthing option. It fills an extremely important function in providing a centrally organised group of caring people, gathering information and making it available to everyone who is interested in childbirth alternatives and the myriad of related issues. You can help support this vital work by subscribing to Birthings. H.A.S. members receive a quarterly magazine, Birthings, full of articles, birth stories, information, support groups and a natural birthing services register. Our members also help us to provide homebirth information and to promote homebirth to expectant families and the wider community. We do this by:
· Providing a homebirth information and midwife referral service · Exhibiting at expos such as the Mind Body Spirit Festival and the Parent and Child Expo. · Distributing homebirth products · Representing homebirth families in discussions with Federal and State Governments and other organisations impacting home births. · Maintaining a web presence for those searching for homebirth information and contacts. |
